Hybrid Program Model —
Designed for working professionals, courses are delivered in intensive, concentrated sessions, with remote and virtual content, as well as specific on-campus in-person sessions. Students can complete the program in just three years. For more information on program scheduling, see the Degree Plan information.
Superintendent Certification Preparation —
This EdD prepares candidates for the Texas Superintendent Certification exam. Coursework supports certification requirements, and the Moody School of Education’s Office of Professional Practice (OPP) facilitates certification. (Note: A valid Principal Certification is required before beginning the program.) Students from outside of Texas are welcome, and the mentorship experience will be tailored to their needs.
Tuition Assistance —
Accepted EdD candidates receive up to 50% tuition assistance, making a Baylor doctoral degree more accessible for educators committed to advancing their professional careers. Additional scholarships are available for early application and for Hale Endowed Scholars.
Cohort Model —
This EdD program follows a cohort model that fosters rich learning experiences, professional collaboration, and the development of a lifelong network of fellow educators.
Mentored Clinical Experience —
Students engage in real-world field experiences, addressing complex challenges under the guidance of a seasoned educational leader. These experiences meet the state requirements for Superintendent Certification in Texas; for students from outside of Texas, the mentorship experience will be customized.
Focus on Problem Solving —
Baylor’s EdD prepares leaders within a character-based, ethics-informed framework for solving complex problems in educational practice, providing a strong knowledge base and teaching important analytical, management, and leadership skills.
Blend of Theory and Practice —
All coursework ties theory to practice, culminating in a capstone experience. Through the dissertation-in-practice, students address real-life problems in education, applying knowledge by analyzing data, developing a plan for implementation, and persuasively presenting the data-based solution.
