Faith-Focused Curriculum

At the heart of the HESL program is a belief that academic excellence and Christian faith go hand in hand. Our curriculum doesn’t just include courses on faith in higher education; it’s built around them. As part of an R1 institution, students are equipped to explore today’s most pressing issues in higher education through a theological lens, engaging both mind and spirit in the pursuit of meaningful impact.

Your Future, Fully Funded

Applicants who are accepted into the program receive full tuition coverage. But the support doesn’t stop there—every student participates in a 20-hour-per-week apprenticeship that provides hands-on experience in a real-world setting, helping you apply what you learn in the classroom to meaningful work. Apprenticeships come with a stipend, so you can focus on your studies and professional growth without financial strain.

Residential Cohort Model

The HESL program begins with a three-year, residential experience, including summers, with new cohorts arriving each fall. After completing coursework, students typically complete the dissertation within one to two years. Each cohort fosters a close-knit, collaborative environment where students grow together, challenge one another, and form lasting bonds with peers from across the country and around the world.

My favorite part of the program has definitely been the academic community.  Seeing how tight the community is between the faculty, the students, and the staff has been really special—and I knew I wanted to be part of that.
