Ju Young (LJ) Lee
- Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Ju Young (LJ) Lee is a Clinical Associate Professor of Sport Management in the Department of Educational Leadership at Baylor University. His research focuses on contemporary issues in sport management, particularly sport participation and development, athlete and student-athlete experiences, sport consumers and fan communities, and eSports and sport communication. His scholarship examines how sport organizations, institutions, communities, and athletes shape sport experiences across social, cultural, and organizational contexts. His work has appeared in outlets such as European Sport Management Quarterly, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, Leisure Sciences, International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics, Sport in Society, and Journal of College Student Development.
Prior to joining Baylor, Dr. Lee served as Associate Professor of Sport Management and Sport Management Program Coordinator at The Citadel, following earlier faculty appointments at Indiana University Kokomo and Texas Tech University. Across these roles, he contributed to undergraduate and graduate sport management education through curriculum development, program leadership, teaching, and student mentoring. He has taught courses in sport marketing, sport communication, international sport, leadership and organizational behavior, and Principles and Practice of Sport Management, and has advised students through internships, independent studies, and graduate research, including serving as a master’s thesis chair and committee member.
Dr. Lee’s professional service includes leadership, editorial, and peer-review roles in national and international sport management organizations and journals. He has served as Chair of the Nominating Committee for the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), as an editorial board member with the International Society for eSports Studies and the Journal of Contemporary Issues in Sport, and as Director of Academic Affairs for the Korea Society for Media & Sport. He also regularly reviews manuscripts for scholarly journals in sport management and related fields.
Dr. Lee has also been active in university service and faculty development. At The Citadel, he served for several years on the Faculty Awards Committee and as one of four Faculty Fellows in Residence with the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching, Learning (CEITL), where he contributed to online education and instructional quality through Quality Matters (QM) course reviews and supported new faculty members as a mentor during their transition to campus.
